From the world of Fangirl comes another novel by author Rainbow Rowell. It’s the book-within-a-book. It’s the story about which Fangirl’s main character, Cath, writes fan fiction.
Carry On is a better version of Harry Potter. And presumably — hopefully — not written by a transphobe. The mages, or wizards and witches, aren’t as different from Normals, or people without magic. They have cell phones and other ordinary things. But Watford School of Magicks — located in London, England — is one of the last places in the world where mages can go to specifically learn magic. It’s where Simon Snow, the main character in Carry On, tries to learn how to control his own magic.
Rainbow Rowell took Harry Potter, ran with it, and made it one thousand times better. It’s more relatable to the reader, and just more fun. It does have its share of magic snobs, but even the magical purists aren’t what they seem.
It’s also a fast read — super hard to put down. If readers thought Fangirl was good, this is definitely their next read.
